There are also other features as well, such as filtered shadows and SMAA (a shader-based form anti-aliasing that makes the game’s rough edges look a bit smoother. Sounds perfect, right?ĭirectx11 water is in, and it looks beautiful. More details, less impact on performance. It also adds Normal Mapping, which is used to add a lot of details to the scene without adding more polygons. It also adds Horizon-Based Ambient Occlusion, which in layman’s terms, gives objects better shadows, realism and depth.

So, what exactly does this mod add to the game? Well, for one, it adds dynamic lighting and shadows. Best of all? It runs flawlessly on modern hardware once again, as though the game were just released in 2015! This is a large achievement, and one that I certainly wanted to cover a bit here on the ‘Watch. In short? The game looked good, it looks even better now.

In other words, he’s taken the base game of Gothic 2 and given it a graphical upgrade that is only capable by using DirectX11, rather than the older, more dated DirectX version that Gothic II used. Interested yet? You should be!Īndre has singlehandedly taken a game that, in my view, already looks beautiful, and has attempted, with much success, to ‘port’ this game to modern hardware, in the modern graphical framework known as DirectX11. That modder’s name is Andre, aka Degenerated. All good games can be further enhanced by quality graphics, and what we have today is an impressive undertaking by a modder who wishes to breathe some new, graphical life into one of our beloved RPGs from yesteryear. Personally, I can handle any style or look of graphics, from games played in MS-DOS, to more modern titles that look graphically impressive, such as a modded version of Skyrim.

Fixed bug that caused label not being deleted when opening update dialog againįor questions and feedback either use the feedback functionality, have a look into the thread World of Gothic or join our Discord server.Pretty graphics! We all love them (some of us more than others), but we can’t deny the fact that the graphical look of games, as shallow as it may be, determines some level of our enjoyment of a game.

Fixed bug patching projects containing an archive.Fixed wrong version downloading a project with a Spine version != 0.Thumbnail on info pages now are hidden when there is just one. It’s possible now to create desktop shortcuts for projects.Added support for files bigger than 2GB.Score ID now gets displayed in management. Also try to provide as much information as possible like your last steps and log files. If you encounter any problems, please let us know so we can have a look at it. And we will prepare some stuff for the future of Spine to make communication with our community easier to know better in which direction to develop Spine. Spine 1.30 will probably mostly get some work in the code base to finalize the refactoring (almost done, should be done with the April update!). This feature only requires you to have started Spine >= 1.29 once with admin privileges. You can create them in the library by right-clicking on the project. These features will follow, but it’s a little more effort to get it done for Gothic 3 than for Gothic 1 & 2, so it will take some time.Īnd then we also finally have support for desktop shortcuts to projects. There is no patching done at the moment and mods aren’t supported as well yet. For the Steam version of the game you need to check the Steam checkbox in order to get it properly started. Don’t expect too much for now as it is just possible to configure the path to Gothic 3 and then start the game via Spine. Now both problems are solved and you can update the renderer again safely.Īnother big feature is the Gothic 3 support. The other one was that installing the renderer update failed. There were actually two bugs here: one caused the update to trigger because a wrong version was downloaded. Spine 1.29 finally fixes the bug that after installing the renderer another “update” was triggered and after installing that update, the renderer didn’t work anymore.
